Did you know that...

Although most pets have a keen sense of direction and can distinguish familiar smells from thousands of others, which helps them return home, if they find themselves in an unfamiliar area the chances of them finding their way again are slim.

03%

Fewer than 3% of lost cats find their home again, while just 19% of lost dogs will be reunited with their owner at some point. Animals who are eventually reunited with their family usually have some form of identification on them.

Microchips are one of the best known ways of identifying an animal. Although all animals should have them, this does not guarantee that they will be useful when needed. For example, it is likely that a lost pet will never visit the vet, so the microchip will never be found. Even if the pet does find a new home, it is likely that it will be integrated there and the original owner will never be sought.

It is imperative that we have a 2nd form of identification on our pet that can be easily seen. If the pet wears a name tag, it immediately means to anyone who finds it that the animal has a family looking for it.
